The Outreach Committee is an ad hoc committee created in 2020 to publicize the society's content to the broader scientific community and the general public and to support the Membership Committee's objectives of attracting new members and sharing content with existing members. The ad hoc committee is also investigating how best to establish a longer-term means to ensure these activities are covered going forward in a more permanent structure. Members are appointed by the president to this ad hoc committee, in consultation with the committee chair. Given the ad hoc nature of this committee, term lengths on the committee other than the chair are nominally set at one year but may be extended, based on the current activities and needs of the ad hoc committee.
