Meteoritics and Planetary Science (MaPS) was first issued in 1953 as Meteoritics. MaPS is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles describing the latest results of new studies, invited reviews of major topics in planetary science, editorials on issues of current interest in the field, and book reviews. MaPS subscribers span the globe and about fifty percent of its readers are based outside the USA.

All active members, once signed in, have access to the online journal for free (see sidebar at right). Members may choose to have the hard copy of the journal delivered to them for an additional annual fee.

The current editor of MaPS is A. J. Timothy Jull of the University of Arizona.
