Each year at the annual meeting of the Meteoritical Society, a few of the top oral presentations by student members are selected for awards. We are pleased to announce the awardees for the 2025 meeting, selected from 36 student presentations.
The McKay Award honors the memory of Gordon A. McKay. It was endowed in 2008 thanks to the generous donations of the McKay family and many society members. We are pleased that in 2025, the McKay Award is awarded to:
- Linda R. Losurdo (University of Sydney, Australia) – Plasma-Synthesised Organic Networks as Laboratory Analogues of IOM in Carbonaceous Chondrites: Distinguishing Ion Bombardment from Temperature Effects
The Wiley Awards have been given since 2012 and are sponsored by Wiley, the publisher of Meteoritics and Planetary Science. The five Wiley Award recipients for 2025 are:
- Daniel L. Burgin (Curtin University, Australia) – Non-Metallic Core Formation in Highly Oxidised Asteroids
- Connor A. Diaz (University of Colorado Boulder, USA) – Heterogecous Ejection Temperature Recorded in a “Low-Shock” Martian Meteorite by (U-TH)/HE Thermochronology and a High-Pressure Polymorph
- Alexander M. Kling (Purdue University, USA) – Unraveling the Complex Relationship Between Progressive Space Weathering and the Cycling of Solar Wind Volatiles on the Moon
- Sojiro Yamazaki (The University of Tokyo, Japan) – On the Relationship Between Geochemical Classification and Redox State of Poikilitic Shergottites: Further Evidence for Heterogeneous Martian Mantle
- Yuke Zheng (University of Chicago, USA) – Volume Measurement of Small Particles Using SEM Photogrametry and 3-D Reconstruction
