The Meteoritical Society's Membership Committee has begun two new initiatives to increase engagement with Early Career (EC) members of the community. The first is an Early Career Seminar Series and the second is a member-only EC forum on the Society's website.

The Early Career Seminar Series is a regularly occurring virtual series that is centered around topics relevant to the EC community (such as but not limited to: proposal writing, requesting astromaterials, public outreach, etc.). While the Series is targeted towards EC members of the community, all are welcome to attend. Suggestions for future topics and volunteers to help present future topics may be submitted through a Google Form.

Connection information is provided to MetSoc members via email. Seminars will be recorded and made publicly available here and on the Meteoritical Society YouTube Channel.

Upcoming Seminar:

Thursday, 28th May at 8 pm (UTC)

Applying for MetSoc Research Grants and Community Grants

The Research and Community Grants are supported by the Meteoritical Society Endowment Fund. The Research Grants are aimed at supporting research activities by student and early-career Meteoritical Society members. The Community Grants are aimed at furthering the goals of the Meteoritical Society through activities and projects proposed by Meteoritical Society members. During this seminar, attendees will hear from members of the Endowment Committee about the application and evaluation processes of these Grants as well as from previous Grant awardees. The goal of this Seminar is to provide valuable information about these Grants ahead of the upcoming June 15th deadline. More information on these Grants and applying for them may be found on the Endowment Fund page of the MetSoc website.
