November 17, 2022 Nancy Chabot

The time has come to renew your Meteoritical Society membership. We hope you will do so and consider spreading the word among your colleagues. In response to member feedback, we have made it more affordable for students and early career researchers to join the society. This year, student memberships are only $10, and we have added a new membership category that offers discounted memberships ($40) to early career researchers, which we define as anyone who is within 10 years of completing their PhD.

Unless you are a lifetime member, all 2022 membership benefits including access to the MaPS portal will expire at midnight Dec. 31, 2022 (CST). To enjoy uninterrupted access to your membership benefits, please complete your renewals no later than Dec. 31.

You may renew your membership in two ways: via the online membership portal using a credit card (preferred method) or via a check mailed to the Treasurer, Tasha Dunn. Checks should be made out to “The Meteoritical Society” and mailed to: 5808 Mayflower Hill, Waterville, ME 04901. The membership portal is available at the top right corner of the Meteoritical Society website: https://meteoritical.org/

You can renew your membership online by logging into the member portal and clicking on the “renew my membership” link under Membership Actions (right hand side of page). Prior to doing so, please make sure that your preferred web browser has been updated. (For various security reasons, the MetSoc website does not support old browsers.)

Once you renew, you will receive an email receipt from Stripe and a renewal acknowledgment from noreply@meteoritical.org. Please check your SPAM folder if you do not receive it in your main email address. If you need an itemized receipt, please email the treasurer at tldunn@colby.edu.

We suggest that you also use this time to update your membership profile. It is particularly important that we have your correct mailing address to ensure timely receipt of Elements Magazine. We also recommend providing a secondary email address. Many members change jobs or institutions and forget to update their contact information. Entering a second email address, usually a personal permanent email, will allow us to contact you and ensure you can continue to receive your membership benefits and important MetSoc updates.

Should you have problems with any aspect of the renewal process, please contact the Membership Committee Chair, Arya Udry, arya.udry@unlv.edu and copy the Treasurer. Be sure to describe the problem in as much detail as possible and include your device and web browser info.

Thank you so much for your continued support of the Meteoritical Society.

Best wishes,

Brigitte Zanda, President

Nancy Chabot, Vice President
