Registration is Open for the Annual Meeting in Perth! – Registration is available on the 2025 MetSoc meeting website for the annual meeting in Perth, July 14-18. Abstracts are due April 22.

Announcement of an additional line of travel support to Perth available for members who do not qualify for travel grants available for students, early career scientists, or developing world scientists. Preference will be given to mid- or senior-status scientists from countries experiencing economic difficulties, who plan to present papers at the meeting. Applications via the Perth meeting web site are due by April 23.

Announcement of the Early Career Lunch for students and researchers up to 10 years post PhD on Sun 13 July, 12-3 PM. It offers an opportunity for our early career scientists to network ahead of the conference week. Select option to attend when registering for the conference.

UTCT X-ray Computed Tomography Short Course June 11-13, 2025
The University of Texas X-ray CT Facility (UTCT), a NASA Planetary Science Enabling Facility, will host its annual short course on the acquisition, visualization, and analysis of X-ray CT (XCT) data June 11-13, 2025 in Austin, TX. This course presents an overview of the acquisition and interpretation of XCT data, followed by hands-on training in 3D visualization and quantitative analysis of discrete geological features (e.g., clasts, grains, pores) and fabrics.
Funds are available to help cover the cost of lodging and meals and there is no charge to attend. Preference is given to applicants with a demonstrated need for immediate application of the skills learned. Participants are invited to bring their own XCT data or have samples scanned (at a discount) at UTCT prior to the course.

The Buseck Center for Meteorite Studies is accepting applications for the Nininger Meteorite Award. This award recognizes outstanding student achievement in the meteoritical sciences as demonstrated by an original research paper. Papers must cover original research conducted by the student and must have been written, submitted, or published between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024. The awardee will receive a cash award of $2000, an engraved plaque, and the opportunity to give a research presentation as part of the BCMS Hybrid Seminar Series.
The application deadline is midnight (MST) April 30, 2025.
Applicants must be the first author of the paper and must be enrolled at an educational institution in the United States. For more information, including application form, click here!
