COMMUNITY SUBMITTED ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Deadline for Applications for the The Barringer Family Fund coming up - New Opportunities!

The Barringer Family Fund supports research related to field work at known or suspected terrestrial impact sites. Grant funds may be used to assist with travel and subsistence costs for field work, as well as laboratory work, computer modeling, various analyses, as well as conference presentation of results related to field work.

Two different types of grants are provided:

  1. Student and PostDoc Project Research Grant: This grant ($2,500 - $5,000) is for upper-level master and PhD students, and post-doctoral researchers (up to 3 years after completion of the PhD) who are enrolled in formal university programs or associated with established public research institutions.

  2. Early Career Research Grant: This opportunity may provide a $10,000 grant for early career scientists affiliated with an established university program or a public research institution. Proposals will describe a future research project focused on terrestrial impact structure(s) or processes.

The deadline for submission of proposals and supporting letters is April 1, 2026.

For further information on eligibility and instructions on how to prepare and submit proposals, see: https://meteoritical.org/grants/barringer-family-fund-meteorite-impact-research

  • Survey gathering perspectives from across the Cosmochemistry and Planetary Science community

I invite you to complete a short anonymous survey gathering perspectives from across the Cosmochemistry and Planetary Science community. The results will inform a forward looking review chapter for the upcoming book Meteorites and the Early Solar System III (Sep 2027).

The questionnaire takes approximately 5-10 minutes, all questions are optional, and no identifying information is collected. Even brief responses are very valuable.

If you consider your research to be even slightly related to Planetary Science or Cosmochemistry, your input would be especially welcome; otherwise, please feel free to disregard this invitation.

You can access the survey here:

I would be grateful if you could also share the link with relevant colleagues or mailing lists.

Many thanks for your time and input.
