Community Grant Report - View this report about a "Space Rocks Exploration Pilot Program" by Jessica Spiro and Patrick Leverone. They developed a curriculum in earth and space sciences for middle school, funded by a Meteoritical Society Community Grant. Meteoritical Society Community Grants are open to all members for funding to support activities that further the goals of the Meteoritical Society. The next proposal deadline is 15 January, 2026.

Society Awards – Please consider nominating a deserving colleague for a future award. Nominations for the Leonard Medal, Barringer Award, Service Award, Nier Prize, Jessberger Award, and Fellows all have a deadline of February 15, 2026. The deadline for the Pellas-Ryder Award is January 31, 2026.
COMMUNITY SUBMITTED ANNOUNCEMENTS
Fellowship Opportunity from Zonta International
Zonta international is offering the Amelia Earhart Fellowship which was established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. The US$10,000 Fellowship is awarded annually to up to 30 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. It may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields. Women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree are eligible. Applicants must not graduate from their Ph.D. or doctoral program before April 2027.
The 2026 Amelia Earhart Fellowship application must be submitted in full by 15 November 2025 to be considered.

PANETH KOLLOQUIUM in Nördlingen, Germany - October 27-28, 2025
The Paneth Kolloquium is a biennial international meeting that brings together students and researchers from different fields of cosmochemistry, planetology, and astrophysics. This year's Paneth Kolloquium will be held in Nördlingen from 27th to 28th of October. Further information about the meeting can be found on: https://paneth.eu. Registration is free of charge and open until September 26th.
There will be a pre-conference field trip led by Prof. Hiesinger to the Nördlinger Ries impact site in the afternoon of October 26th. If you are interested in participating, please indicate so during registration.
Please also forward this mail to potentially interested colleagues. Early career researchers are particularly encouraged to present their work. We would be very happy to welcome you and your students in Nördlingen. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Logo design contest for MetSoc 2027 in Flagstaff
The local organizing committee for MetSoc 2027 in Flagstaff is soliciting entries for our logo design contest. The winning logo will be used for the meeting, and the winner will be awarded free registration. Eligibility is limited to early career MetSoc members (within 10 years of PhD at the time of entry). **Entries are due by 11:59pm AZ time on October 1st! **Click here for more information and to submit your logo design. Applications for the 2026 Schweickart Prize open on September 15th!
Are you a graduate student or recent postgraduate fellow interested in building bold ideas related to Planetary Defense? The Schweickart Prize invites you to submit an innovative proposal for tackling challenges like asteroid detection, impact mitigation, space law, or public education.
The winner will receive a $10,000 USD cash award, a museum-quality prize, public recognition through a press campaign, and mentorship from the Prize Selection Committee, including Apollo 9 Astronaut Rusty Schweickart.
