We wanted to share some monthly news items:

The Annual Meteoritical Society Meeting Is Next Week! – The 2023 meeting website has all the details of the sessions, events, townhalls, and other items planned for the week. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there! We greatly appreciate the support to enable participation in the annual meeting through travel awards, with 61 members receiving travel awards for 2023.

2023 Awards and Citations – We are delighted to be honoring some of our distinguished members with the society's annual awards during the Awards Ceremony on August 16. Check out this news story to read the citations published in Meteoritics and Planetary Science. Congratulations to the highly deserving awardees! And thank you to all our members who took the time to nominate our colleagues for consideration and who serve on award committees.

Summer 2023 Endowment Grants AnnouncedThree projects were recently awarded Meteoritical Society Endowment Fund grants, to support efforts that further the society’s goals to promote research and education in planetary science:

  • Planetary and Space Science Outreach for Senior High Schools in Ghana

  • Bay Area Planetary Science Conference and Development of a Field Course to Explore a Potential Impact Structure

  • Workshop on Planetary Impacts During The Total Solar Eclipse

Five Meteoritical Society Research Grants Awarded – We are happy to announce the first recipients of the newly created Meteoritical Society Research Grants! The Meteoritical Society Research Grant is directed to students and early career researchers to promote collaborative research that is not funded elsewhere. Congratulations to: Laura Garcia, Robin Haller, Megan Hammett, Carine Sadaka, and Marian Selorm Sapah.

Share your Announcement with MetSoc Members – Starting in September 2023, this monthly email newsletter will include a section for announcements submitted by society members. Submission guidelines and other details are given on the society's website. We welcome submissions from members regarding meetings, workshops, seminars, job announcements, and general news that are relevant to the Meteoritical Society community.
